A New Traditional Christmas Classic!

During the Christmas season of 1996, I read Clement C. Moore’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas at least a hundred times to my three-year-old son. After our Christmas dinner my inquisitive boy asked me if I knew what Santa did on Christmas night after his Christmas Eve job was done. That’s when ‘Twas the Night After Christmas was born. I made up a story. My son asked me to repeat it. I thought about what I had said and wrote it down. A week later, dressed as Santa, I read the story to my son’s preschool class. The teacher and students loved every word. I was asked to read it to other classes. The children, teachers, and parents said that they loved it too.

My son explained his classmates enjoyment of this little Christmas tale best when he said: “Daddy, everybody needs to know that Christmas doesn’t just stop after Santa delivers the presents. Santa has a life after Christmas Eve, and he celebrates Christmas dinner with everybody in the North Pole, just like we like do at home.” My son was right, Christmas is much more than just the presents. Blessed are those that gratefully enjoy the feeling of being with the ones they love.
